* What is
Scrum?

– It’s so
easy, right? So many articles regarding Scrum, e.g. [
http://www.scrumalliance.org/pages/what_is_scrum].
– So, "three roles", "three
ceremonies" and "three artifats".

– The underlying values and principles is the reason why
Scrum is there, refer to [
http://agilemanifesto.org/].

Knowing Scrum is far less
sufficient for work, you use Scrum because you want to get benefit by using it.
Use any tools to facilitate your work requires you to understand it and master
its usage, which is not just knowing the names and definitions, or mapping those
new terms to your old behaviours.

* Why you are not doing
Scrum

– Why this
is important? If you want succeed, but failed, you must know the reason of
failure in order to fix it.

– The fact is sometimes or most times you were complaining about Scrum,
actually it’s not Scrum’s fault.

– Does PO accept team’s capability? Does Scrum Master
closely watching the team and provide instant feedback and guidance? Do team
members try their best to improve the quality and deliver features one by
one?

– Yep, there are
difficulties, everybody faces difficulties, that’s true. But, you are not
exactly doing Scrum, Scrum may or may not be your reason of failure.

– If you changed the core
parts of Scrum, you are _refering_ to Scrum instead of _doing_ Scrum.

* Change yourself instead
of change Scrum

[7 Habits] is a famous book, the first habit mentioned is "1. Be Proactive" :
Change starts from within, and highly effective people make the decision to
improve their lives through the things that they can influence rather than by
simply reacting to external forces.

– do not just be a follower,
accept the fact, and change yourself to fit Scrum, then _you_ own your
life.

– and other
habits

   "2. Begin
with the end in mind" : you want to do a good work, so why keep rubbishes in
your code or testcase?

"3. Put first things first" : one feature by one feature, with
priorities

   "4.
Think win/win" : we are together to achieve the same goal, at least we earn our
life on NSN’s products and sales, right?

   "5. Seek first to
understand, then to be understood" : Listen, a beautiful art in the world.
Refusing to listen closes the door to learn from others.

   "6. Synergize" : you are
no longer just developers or testers, you are a team.

"7. Sharpen the saw" : Inspect And
Adapt, continuously improve yourself, keep an eye on technical
excellence.
